Abstract

Objective To investigate the liver function and the short-term therapeutic effect of artificial liver support system(plasma exchange,PE) in severe hepatitis. Methods Inpatients from March 2008 to April 2009 in Renmin Hospital of Wuhan Hospital were collected.Forty-eight cases of severe hepatitis not only were treated with synthetic internal medical treatment,at the same time but also were treated with PE.The other 48 patients were only treated with synthetic internal medical treatment. The biochemical indicators changes and short-term survival rate were analyzed. Results After PE,symptoms of patients with severe hepatitis in PE group were improved. The biochemical indicators in PE group were more improved than those in the control group(P0.01 or 0.05).However,there was no significant difference in improvement of the survival rate. Conclusion PE is comparatively effective in the treatment of early,medium-term chronic severe hepatitis. It can't reduce the dead rate of terminal severe hepatitis patients.
