Abstract

This paper applied DEA-Malmquist Index to measure the total factor productivity(TFP)change of China's IT industry during 1996—2005.The main conclusions are as follows. On the whole,TFP of IT industry is increasing at 8.6% per year during the sample period, and the main source of TFP growth is technical progress's advance. The regional disparity of TFP in China's IT industry does exist. The technical efficiency reflects remarkable convergence during the sample period. While the reasons of TFP growth include human capital, industrialization and enterprise ownership, the average scale and congregation have negative effects on TFP growth.
