Abstract

Traditionally,metaphor has been regarded as figures of speech,while modern metaphor theories treat it as a cognitive phenomenon,a significant way of thinking.A cross-cultural analysis of English and Chinese conceptual metaphors aboutfearfrom the perspective of cognition is to prove that emotion metaphors are based on human common physical experience and physiological effects,hence,the cognitive university;that the influence of cultural leads to cultural diversity.
