Abstract
A series of dinuclear complexes of salicylic acid and o-phenanthroline with different molar ratios of Eu~(3+) to Y~(3+) have been synthesized.Their composition was Eu_xY_(1-x)(sal)_3(phen)(x=0.1~1.0).Their UV spectra,IR spectra and fluorescence spectra were studied. The UV absorption of the complexes comes mainly from that of ligands. The fluorescence spectra of the complexes indicate that the fluorescence emision intensity of europium ion was sensitized by yttrium ion in the complexes. These facts show that not only the ligands but also the yttrium complex can transfer the absorbed energy to Eu~(3+) ion in the complexes.
