Abstract
AIMS An experimental study of gaslon N in prevention and treat- ment of acute gastric mucosal injury was performed in rats. METHODS Fourty-eight rats were divided into 3 groups.Group Ⅰ was normal control group and group Ⅱ was preventive group. The latter was further divided into Ⅱ_a(preventive control group),group Ⅱ_b(gaslon N preventive group)and group Ⅱ_c(ranitidine preventive group).Group Ⅲ was treatment group and was also composed of 3 subgroups.Gastric mucosal injury was induced by 100% ethanol. Gastric mucosal blood flow(GMBF)and other indexes were measured. RESULTS Compared with the control groups, gaslon N had preven- tive and therapeutic effects on ethanol-induced gastric mucosal injury,as it lessened injury index(P0.01,respectively),elevated GMBF(P0.01,P0.05,respectively),increased levels of hex- osamine and phospholipids in gastric mucosa(P0.01, respectively)and enhanced surface hydrophobicity of gastric mucosa (P0.05,P0.01,respectively). CONCLUSIONS Gaslon N is a beneficial cytoprotective agent of gas- tric mucosa.
