The Textual Research on the Library System in the Zhou Dynasty

There were three stages of collecting and spreading books in the Zhou Dynasty: (l) From the Xizhou stage to early days of the SPring and Autumn Period, the mechanism of library was whole. The Zhou king's books room and the six feudal officials' books mansions in Zhou royal, the dukes or Princes' Principal palaces, the Ministry of Rites' officials and the XiangWei where Publishing government decree .in the various countries performed the collection books function, books were collected by government so that books were in good condition. (2) In later days of the Spring and Autumn Period, the mechanism of official library was destroyed, the official collecting books were lost day by day. The Personal collecting books arose. (3) In the Warring States Period, the official collecting books were wrecked seriously. A large number of books washed away. The Personal collecting books were in vague. Meanwhile, the personal writings were so active that there as a source for personal collecting books. Because the collecting books were lost and falsified seriously, the books handed down from ancient times weren' t trusted by us-er, so much so that there was the forewarning to be burnt.
