Evening Palace Dialogue in the Song Dynasty

Abstract

Evening palace dialogue,or Yedui in Chinese,refers to the way that the emperor of the Song Dynasty gave a private audience to court officials and discussed state affairs in every respect with them in the evening or night.It is a special way of communication,by which both the emperor and ministers could exchange information and gain what they wanted.Through studying Yedui,more comprehensive and profound knowledge of the imperial power in the Song Dynasty can be acquired.
