Abstract
Objective:To study the efficacy and safety of combination low dose paroxetine hydrochloride and trimebutine maleate in treating functional dyspepsia(FD).Methods:98 patients were randomly devided into two groups.Treatment group(59 patients) was orally given paroxetine hydrochloride 10 mg once daily;trimebutine maleate 200 mg 3 times daily;control group(39 patients) was given oral trimebutine maleate 200 mg,3 times daily.The course was four weeks.Results:For treatment group and control group,the overall efficacy rates were 88.14% and 71.79% respectively.The therapeutic effects of treatment group were better than those of the control group(P0.05).The symptoms of upper abdominal pain,abdominal distention,early satiety and stomach burn in the treatment group were more improved than those in the control group.The treatment group showed shorter onset time than the controls.No severe side-effects were found in the both groups.Conclusion:The combination of low dose paroxetine hydrochloride and trimebutine maleate is a more effective method of treating FD.
