Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effects of ω-3 fat emulsion on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis by bleomycin in rats. Methods Ninety rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: NS group(control group),pulmonary fibrosis group(model group) and ω-3 fat emulsion treatment group(treatment group). On 7th,14th and 21st day,the left lung tissues were obtained for assessment of TGF-β1 and IFN-γ expression with immunohistometry. The right lung tissues were obtained for HE staining.Meanwhile, serum IFN-γ and IL-4 were assessed with ELISA. Results(1) Significantly milder pulmonary alveolitis and fibrosis were revealed in treatment group than those in model group.(2) Strong positive TGF-β1 protein expression with weakly positive IFN-γ was detected on bronchiolar epithelium in model group. However, the significantly opposite expression was revealed in treatment group(P0.01).Meanwhile,on the 7th,14th and 21st day, significantly down-regulation and up-regulation of TGF-β1 and IFN-γ,respectively,were observed in the treatment group following time-dependent manners(P0.05).(3) Significantly higher IL-4 and lower IFN-γ were revealed in model group than those in treatment group(P0.01).Meanwhile,on the 7th,14th and 21st day, significantly down-regulation and up-regulation of IL-4 and IFN-γ,respectively,were observed in the treatment group following time-dependent manners(P0.05). Conclusion The ω-3 fat emulsion can alleviate pulmonary fibrosis via down-regulation of TGF-β1 protein and IL-4 levels and up-regulation of IFN-γ protein. WT5HZ〗
