Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of L-carnitine(L-CN)in the treatment of congestive heart failure(CHF).Methods 56 patients with chronic heart failure were divided into control group 28 patients and therapy group 28 patients. The control group patients were given basic treatment with digoxin, diuretics, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI)or angiotensinⅡreceptor blocker(ARB),and β-blocker;the therapy group were given L-camitine 3 g·d-1 for 14 days in addition to the basic treatment.Heart function and BNP level in chronic heart failure patients was observed before and after L-camitine treatment. Results The efficiency of the treatment group was better than control group(P0.05);After treatment Heart discharge blood(SV),cardiac output(CO),heart index(VI),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),and cardiac function classification(NYHA) and plasma BNP(BNP) levels were obviously improved for therapy group(P0.05);Compared with control group, the differences are statistically significant(P0.05),the improvement of the treatment group Is superior to control group. Conclusion L-carnitine can be used as adjuvant therapy to improve the heart function in chronic heart failure patients.
