Abstract

Objective To analyze the CT findings and pathologic results of abdominal inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor(IMT).Methods Ten patients with abdominal IMT confirmed by surgery and pathology, including 3 males and 7 females, aged from 28 to 62 years, with a median age of 53 years were collected. All patients underwent CT examination. The growth pattern, shape, density and enhanced presentation of the tumors were analyzed. Results Two lesions located in liver, three in abdominal cavity, and one in spleen, descending duodenum, gastric antrum, gallbladder, bladder, respectively. The CT images showed cystic mass, solid mass and mixed mass in 2,5,3 lesions, respectively. The solid part was lightly, moderately or obviously enhanced with a irregular or ring or patchy shape. However, the cystic lesions showed no enhanced. There was clear boundary between all lesions and surrounding tissue. Conclusion CT features of abdominal IMT can provide valuable information to the diagnosis and differential diagnosis, but the confirmed diagnosis depends on the histopathological and immunohistochemical examination.
