Abstract
The study investigated the relationship between middle school students' academic stress,achievement goal orientation and academic achievement.A total of 686 students from middle schools were investigated with two questionnaires assessing their academic stress and achievement goal orientation.The result is as follows.For mastery goal group,mastery goal has positive effect on academic performance;academic stress has negative effect on academic performance;performance goal has negative effect on academic performance through academic stress.For performance goal group,performance goal has negative effect on academic performance through academic stress;mastery goal has positive effect on academic performance through academic stress.
