Abstract

In recent years, along with the city planning and construction boom, pedestrian environmental problems emerge.Based on the survey of 520 pedestrians in four typical regions of Lanzhou, this paper analyses pedestrian environmental problems and the necessity of pedestrian environment planning, then puts forward some recommendations. Our study shows that, firstly,in modern transport system, walking is still the primary travel mode.Travel time and age affect the choice.Secondly,Income levels and travel purposes decided pedestrian needs and affect the satisfaction of the pedestrian environment.Thirdly, pedestrian environment problems show significant regional differences.Fourthly, urban pedestrian environment planning must have clear concept, principle and object. Then, pay attention to implementation and management.
