Abstract
In recent years, along with the city planning and construction boom, pedestrian environmental problems emerge.Based on the survey of 520 pedestrians in four typical regions of Lanzhou, this paper analyses pedestrian environmental problems and the necessity of pedestrian environment planning, then puts forward some recommendations. Our study shows that, firstly,in modern transport system, walking is still the primary method of transportation.Travel time and age affect the choice of the transportation method.Secondly,Income levels and travel purposes decide pedestrian needs and affect the satisfaction of the pedestrian environment.Thirdly, pedestrian environment problems show significant regional differences.Fourthly, urban pedestrian environment planning must have clear concept, principle and object.Implementation and management have to be paid attention to.
