Abstract

Objective To evaluate the treatment of Graves'hyperthyroidism with 131I and ATD. Methods 240 clinical patients with Graves'hyperthyroidism were collected. They were divided into 2 groups treated with ATD and 131I to compare the total curative effects. All patients were followed up for 2 years. Results The curative effect of 131I was better than that of ATD;the incidence of Graves'ophthalmopathy of the two groups was not significantly different. The Graves'hyperthyroidism patients treated with 131I got the more incidence rate of hypothyroidism. The patients cured with 131I had the less Graves'hyperthyroidism relapse than in those with ATD.In the patients treated with 131I,the incidence of hyperthyroid heart disease, liver function damage, leukopenia and so on was less than in those treated with ATD. Conclusion 131I therapy excels the ATD in the treatment of the patients with Graves'hyperthyroidism.
