Abstract

Liang Zongdai is a unique poet and theorist in 1930s.He assimilates the spirits of Chinese traditional art,such as images,mood and the conception of fable ——the combination of Chinese and Western theory.He elaborates his theories of symbolism poetics which played an important role in the development of Chinese new poems.Liang Zongdai has concentrated on the research inheriting the western symbolism poetics.Symbol is not easy to understand.Liang′s theories of poems are characterized by his judgments and thoughts.After reading the essay Symbolism,the author summarizes the relationship between symbol and images,symbol and mood,symbol and fable.
