The Academic Background and Modern Value of Liang Zongdai's Poetics

Abstract

Liang Zongdai's poetics is mostly embodied in his works Poems and and Poems and Truth Ⅱ.Absorbing poetic elements and spirits from Symbolism in France and Goethe's classical romanticism in Germany,Liang pursued and truth,valued pure poems and indulged himself in the quest for the highest level of symbolism.The poetics he put forward not only overstep that of his contemporaries,but also provide modern poetry with prospective views.Considered the conscientious inheritor of the value of poetics highly praised by the modern scholar Wang Guowei,Liang set the notions of Chinese and western poetics on the same plane,trying to establish a cross-cultural poetics category,which shows his broad vision.Therefore,Liang Zongdai,who occupies an important position in the history of Chinese modern comparative poetics,is well worth the attention among the academic field.
