Abstract
Aim To explore the relationship between the remodelling pattern of left ventricle and cardiac function in patients of hyertension. Methods 2 DE and M mode echocardiography were used to study the left ventricular patterns in 209 essential hypertensive patients and correlated it with the left ventricular function. Results The percentage of functional class in patients with normal geometry and concentric remodeling were 75.4% and 60.0% respectively, whereas in patients with concentric and eccentric hypertrophy class Ⅱ function were only 12.7% and 11.8%, respectively. The size of left atrium was larger in concentric hypertrophy (indicating the decreased left ventricular compliance). The left ventricular systolic function was injured apparently in eccentric hypertrophy. Conclusion The different methods of clinical treatment should be taken according to the different pattern of left ventricle.
