Abstract
Objective To evaluate security and efficacy of topical anesthesia in small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract extraction and IOL implantation. Methods All patients were divided into 2 groups. In group A,one hundred and nine eyes of 109 patients were under topical anesthesia with 0.4% Benoxil;in group B, seventy-nine eyes of 79 patients were under aroundbalbar anesthesia.Small incision non-phacoemusification cataract extraction and IOL implantation were performed in all patients. The security and efficacy of anesthesia and surgery time were analyzed. Results All the operations were smoothly done. The incidence of complication of anesthesia and the surgery time of group A were less than that of group B. Conclusions Topical anesthesia can be used safety and effectively for small incision non-phacoemusification cataract extraction and IOL implantation with fewer complications.Besides it is easy to perform.
