Abstract

Objective:To investigate the diagnostic and prognostic values of NT-pro BNP in symptomatic heart failure.Methods:Fifty-eight and13coronary heart disease patients were enrolled into heart failure group and non heart failure group respectively.Left ventricular function was measured with echocardiography.Plasma NT-pro BNP was determined with enzyme immunoassay method. All patients were followed up.Results:Compared with non heart failure group and normal group, heart failure group had a higher plasma NT-pro BNP.The plasma NT-pro BNP was significantly associated with left ventricular function parameters of eˉchocardiography. In the heart failure group, the plasma NT-pro BNP had no significant difference between the dead and survival groups. Conclusion:In coronary heart disease patients, the plasma NT-pro BNP signifˉicantly elevated in heart failure, and it was a useful marker to detect these patients.According to our follow-up results, the plasma NT-pro BNP couldn't predict short-term cardiogenic death in heart failure.
