The consolidation potential of rural residential land at a provincial scale in Guangxi

Rural residential land consolidation is a focus of the new round of land consolidation planning in China,and the evaluation potential of rural residential land consolidation will influence policy choices. However,how to reasonably estimate the provincial consolidation potential of rural residential land has been overlooked by research. Here,we conduct sampling and present a different potential calculation method for different consolidation to design a process and method for calculating provincial rural residential land consolidation potential. According to landform and economic conditions different types of consolidation areas are classified and the sample regions selected. In order to determine the consolidation type of rural residential land,an assessment system of rural residential land comprehensive influence is constructed. According to different types of rural residential consolidation,a potential measurement method is constructed and the vacant construction land rate method is improved by GIS spatial analysis. The potential of other counties(e.g. city,district) is calculated using extrapolations from the average of land-saving potential rate of the sample regions. The results for Guangxi show that the released potential of Guangxi is 68 102.807hm2 by 2020 through rural residential land consolidation,which is less than the potential when using the standard method of construction land per capita,and more than the potential when using the vacant construction land rate method. The process and method designed here to calculate the consolidation potential of rural residential land at a province scale is reasonable and feasible.
