Therapeutic effect of trimetazidine in treating dilated cardiomyopathy with heart failure:30 cases report

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of trimetazidine for treatment of dilated cardiomyopathy with heart failure.Methods Fifty-eight cases of dilated cardiomyopathy with heart failure were randomly divided into treatment group(30 cases) and control group(28 cases).The control group was applied conventional anti -heart failure therapy.The treatment group was given trimetazidine(20 mg,three times a day) based on the conventional therapy.After 6 months therapy courses,the left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),serum B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP),6 min walk test,and adverse drug reactions of the two groups were evaluated pre and post treatment.Results After 6 months treatment,the total effective rate of the treatment group(93.3%) was significantly higher than the control group(75.0%,P0.05).As for the cardiac function indexes,included LVEDD,LVEF,BNP and 6 min walking distance,the treatment group were better than those in the control group(P0.05);Adverse drug reactions was slightly in the treatment group.Conclusion Long-term use of trimetazidine could improve cardiac function of dilated cardiomyopathy with heart failure, which is safe and effective.
