Endoscopic sinus surgery for antrochoanal polyp

ObjectiveTo explore the genesis,clinical characteristics,treatment and curative effect of antrochoanal polyp(ACP).MethodsTwenty-two cases of antrochoanal polyp were restrospectively analyzed.All the cases were treated with endoscopic sinus surgery from Jun.2003 to Jun.2006.Clinical characteristics,examination,endoscopic sinus surgery and curative effect of ACP were explored and analysed.ResultsNineteen of twenty-two cases came from maxillary sinus,one came from sphenoid sinus,and two came from middle turbinate.All the cases were treated with endoscopic sinus surgery.No operation complication happened,and postopetative follow-up for three months to 1 year showed no recurrence.ConclusionMost of ACP come from maxillary sinus,but it also happens in other places,for example :phenoid sinus,middle turbinate.Endoscopic sinus surgery is the first choice for treating ACP.
