Clinical analysis of endoscopic sinus surgery for antrochoanal polyps

Abstract

Objective:To explore the clinical characteristics,treatment and effect of antrochoanal polyps(ACP) with endoscopic sinus surgery.Methods:The clinical data of twenty-two cases of antrochoanal polyps who were treated with endoscopic sinus surgery from Jun.2003 to Jun.2006 were retrospectively analyzed.Results:Nineteen of twenty-two cases came from maxillary sinus.One came from sphenoid sinus,and two came from middle turbinate.All the cases were treated with endoscopic sinus surgery.No operation complications happened,and postoperative follow-up for three months to 1 year showed no recurrence.Conclusion:Most of ACP comes from maxillary sinus,and it also happens in other places such as sphenoid sinus,middle turbinate.Endoscopic sinus surgery is the first choice for treating ACP.
