Abstract

As one of the well-known contemporary writers in China, Jia Pingwa won a successive series of prizes abroad with some of his masterpieces, which has caused great sensation both at home and abroad. Western readers' interpretations of Jia's works are similar to opinions of some of domestic critics and basically echoe to the writer's own original thinking of writing. The reason for this lies in the fact that his works reveal the specific necessary phase of the history of development of human civilization and describe truthfully the complicated mind of men in a historical phase of social transfromation. In a word, numerous factors contribute to the global character of Jia Pingwa's literary works.
