Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and caspase-3 in chorionic villi to provide the theoretical basis for the mechanism of spontaneous abortion in early pregnancy. Methods Samples of early pregnant chorionic villi were obtained from surgical aspiration and spontaneous abortion.Histological changes were observed with light microscopy. The expression of PCNA and apoptosis protease(caspase-3) was detected with immunohistochemical staining. Results The extensive pathological changes in cell morphology were observed in chorionic villi of spontaneous abortion, and the proliferation indexes of cytotrophoblasts and syncytiotrophoblasts were decreased compared with the control group, vice versa, the apoptosis indexes increased compared with courtrol. Conclusion The overexpression of caspase-3 may be involved in the mechanism of spontaneous abortion.
