Abstract
Objective To understand the community residents knowledge and requirements of community health management services in Xuhui district of Shanghai and to provide references for further improvement of service modes in community health management.Methods By using questionnaire,data from 900 residents randomly sampled in Xuhui district were obtained in Shanghai in July,2007.Results There were 875 valid questionnaires.97(11.1%) of them thought they understood quite well,372(42.5%) knew something about it.The health management services with top five recognition rates were:health examination(667,76.2%),screen and prevention of disease early(457,52.2%),green channel(401,45.8%),health consultation offered by experts(375,42.9%),and health archives(368,42.0%).Among the 875 residents,56.2% of them thought they were in dire need of health management services,36.1% thought it was negligible,and the other 7.7% did not need it.The demand for five health management services from highest to lowest were:health examination(555,63.4%),health guidance and consultation(536,61.2%),health assessment(536,61.2%),health plans(491,56.1%),and health archives(482,55.1%).Conclusion Community health management services are not well known and accepted by the residents,but the requirements of them are high.The related institution need to enhance publicity,help residents establish the right concept and guide them to manage their own health.
