Abstract

Objective To explore the expression of β-catenin in the process of hair follicle wound repair in rats. Methods On the basis of a rat wound model, IHC and RT-PCR were used to detect the expression of β-catenin in wound hair follicle and normal hair follicle tissue. Results It showed that the expression ofβ-catenin was stronger in wound hair follicle than that of normal hair follicle tissue; and the transcription level of β-catenin was associated with the wound stages. RT-PCR showed that β-catenin mRNA increased rapidly after 5h,it reached peak level after 24h|decreased slowly and then reached normal level after 72h. Conclusion The expression ofβ-catenin was altered obviously in RAT wound hair follicles. It suggested that β-catenin might be an essential regulative factor in follicle formation and cycle maintenance, and plays an important role in rat hair follicles wound repair.
