Abstract

Objective To study the effects of noninvasive bi-level positive airway pressure(BiPAP) ventilation in acute cardiogenic pulmonary edema.Methods 42 patients with acute left ventricular failure were divided into A group(21 patients were treated with BiPAP without restriction on other medical therapy) and B group(21 patients were treated with oxygen and medical therapy).The effects of the treatment were investigated.Results During the early phase of BiPAP treatment,the oxygenation improved significantly,both heart rate and blood pressure improved,the rate of required intubation and mortality reduced.Conclusion The effect of noninvasive bi-level positive airway pressure(BiPAP) ventilation in acute left ventricular failure was positive.
