LI Bai And XIE An

LI Bai valued highly of XIE An in his verses, because XIE An's life reflected LI Bai's social ideal and philosophy of life. Both of them are broad-minded and have similar tolerance. Living in solitude and waiting for chances, withdrawing from society after success-this is XIE An's political ideal that LI Bai adores; another aspect of XIE An that attracted LI Bai was his self-conceit, his great ambition and his contempt for wealth. XIE An had political ability and made unparalleled contributions by taking advantages of the exceptional social environment and his special social position. Compared with XIE An, LI Bai had political enthusiasm yet lacked outstanding political talent and quality, so he didn't realize his political ideal but became a world famous poet.
