Abstract
Objective To analyse the relationship between anterior chamber space and the corneal endothelial change in phacoemulsification. Methods Phacoemulsifi-cation and IOL implantation were performed in 60 eyes of 46 patients. The anterior chamber volume and chamber depth were measured by using Pentacam before surgery.Endothelial densities of the mid-cornea were measuredwith noncontact specular microscope before and one week aftersurgery. Results The mean preoperative anterior depth was(2.72±0.33 mm),the anterior chamber volume was(153.43±21.37)mm3,The corneal endothelial cell lossrate was 9.27%±5.17%.A significant negative correlation existed between the preoperative anterior chamber space and the postoperative corneal endothelial cell loss rate(P0.001).Conclusion Pentacam,as a new 3-dimensional mathematical model of the anterior segment,is helpful in evaluating the severity of endothelial damage after surgery and can be used to predict the outcome of the cornea.
