Clinical research of modified "Zhenwu Decoction" plus routine therapy in treating chronic heart failure of yang deficiency and water accumulation

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of modified Zhenwu Decoction in the treatment of chronic heart failure(CHF) of yang deficiency and water accumulation.Methods Sixty subjects were randomized into two groups: control group in which 30 cases were treated by routine therapy,and treatment group in which 30 cases were treated by modified Zhenwu Decoction and routine therapy,with a course of 14 days.The clinical efficacy,symptoms score,colour Doppler ultrasound echocardiography and brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) were observed.Results The clinical efficacy was better in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05);after treatment the left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),stroke volume(SV),left ventricular end-diastolic volume(LVEDV) and left ventricular end-systolic volume(LVESV) were obviously improved in both groups(P0.05,P0.01),with more significant improvement in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05);plasma BNP were obviously reduced in both groups(P0.01),lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Modified Zhenwu Decoction is effective to treat chronic heart failure and reduce BNP.
