Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical effect of tympanostomy tube and myringotomy in treatment of pediatric secretory otitis media. Methods A total of 90 children with secretory otitis media in our hospital were divided into observation group and the control group according to the digital random method. Results The patient of observation group were treated by tympanostomy tube and patient of control group were treated by myringotomy. The clinical effect of two groups was compared. The total effective rate of observation group in 3~6 months(97.78%) was significantly higher that of control group(80.85%)(P0.05).The total effective rate of observation group in more than 6 months(85.00%) was significantly higher that of control group(61.90%)(P0.01).The total complications incidence of observation group(9.23%) was significantly lower that of control group(4.41%) without significant differences(P 0.05). Conclusion The tympanostomy tube and myringotomy have its pros and cons, the selection of treatment for pediatric secretory otitis media should be based on the illness and medical history of patients.
