Abstract

Objective To develop a method of quantitative analysis of multi-components by single marker(QAMS)for simultaneously determining the different types of compounds in Paeonia veitchii. Methods A HPLC method was developed as QAMS to determine paeoniflorin, albiflorin, benzoylpaeoniflorin, gallic acid, methyl gallate and pentagalloylglucose in P.veitchii.Using paeoniflorin as the internal reference substance, the relative correction factor(RCF)of the five components was determined by HPLC with good reproducibility. The contents of the components in 16 batches of samples, collected from different areas, were determined by both QAMS and external standard method. Results No significant difference between the quantitative results of QAMS method and external standard method was observed. Conclusions It is a convenient and accurate method to determine multi-components when some authentic standard substances were unavailable. It can be used to control the quality of P.veitchii.
