Abstract
AIM To study the effect of TNF α on the biological activity of glioma cells. METHODS The effect of the proliferation of TNF α on rat C 6 glioma cells was determined using MTT assay. The induced apoptosis was studied by electron microscopy and DNA electrophoresis, the expression bcl 2 of rat C 6 glioma cells was analyzed by immunocyto chemistry assay. RESULTS The growth rate and proliferation activity of C 6 cells were inhibited and the apoptosis was induced by TNF α, but the expression of bcl 2 was not influenced. CONCLUSION TNF α may inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis but do not affect bcl 2 expression of malignant glioma cells.
