Abstract
A high resoluton numerical model of 3-D tidal flow in Xiangshan bay is setup with the finite-volume coastal ocean model (FVCOM) besed on unstructured grid. The triangular grids are used to fit for the irregular coastal boundary and islands, the σ-coordinate transformation is used in the vertical direction in order to consider the representable, irregular bottom topography in the model. The results show that the computed values fit very well with the measured data. The model is better to simulate the temporal and spatial characteristics of tidal flow and residual current in Xiangshan bay.
