Abstract

Objective To study distribution of candida strains in patients with candidal vaginitis. Methods Candida strains were identified and characterized by CHROMagar Candida medium and Bliom API 20C AUX.Results There were 224 candida strains detected in 289 specimens of candidal vaginal secretion(77.5%),of which 72 candida strains were identified in 89 specimen of recurrent vulvovaginal candidosis. Most of these strains were candida albicans;168(75%) and 19 (8%) strains were candida parapsilosis, and 11(5%) strains were candida tropicalis. Conclusions Candida strains isolated from patients with recurrent vulvovaginal candidosis are predominately candida albicans, and a few are candida parapsilosis and candida tropicalis.
