Abstract
Objective To investigate the role of tracheal stents in treating malignant tracheal and main bronchial stenosis. Methods Data of 28 patients with malignant strictures in the trachea and(or) main bronchi were retrospectively analyzed,in whom tracheal stent placement was performed. Results Of 30 stents placed in 28 patients,27 stents were inserted into the trachea and 3 stents were put in the main bronchi. All stents were implanted successfully and dyspnea syndrome disappeared immediately after the procedure. The average survival time of the patients with malignant tumors was 5.5 months. Conclusion The stents therapy is effective in the treatment of dyspnea induced by malignant tracheal and main bronchial stenosis.
