Abstract

Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) is characterized by the reflux of gastric content into the esophagus with or without histological changes.Its typical symptoms are heartburn,acid reflux,and non-cardiac chest pain.In the last few decades,the incidence of GERD has progressively increased worldwide,with the highest incidence in those aged 40-60 years.The treatment of GERD is to cure esophagitis,relieve symptoms and reduce recurrence.
