Analysis of Iodine Deficiency Disorders Surveillance of Zhejiang Province in 2011

Abstract

Objective To investigate iodine deficiency disorders(IDD) and iodine nutrition level of the residents as well as preventive measure and control effect on IDD in Zhejiang Province.Methods The sixth provincial IDD surveillance was conducted in 2011.Students aged 8-10 were selected from 30 sampling units to conduct the detection of goiter,urinary iodine,rate of qualified iodized salt and water iodine.Results Of the children aged 8-10 in the whole province,the goiter rate was 4.13% by B-ultrasound,the median of urinary iodine was 237.09 μg/L,the rate of qualified iodized salt was 96.60%,and the median of water iodine was 3.94 μg/L.Conclusion By taking comprehensive measures with iodize salt as the principal measure,the IDD prevention and controlling work has showed obvious effects.Moreover,the goal of eliminating IDD has achieved in Zhejiang.
