A Bitter Smile: On Xin Qiji's style of Banter Ci

Abstract
Our forefathers laid emphasis on the vehement and tragic tones , as well as the mild and clean styles in Xin Qiji' s Ci, they often neglected his banter Ci. Smiling bitterly in his seeming humor, Xin Qiji wrote banter Ci to satirize the wickedness or himself. These charateris-tics came from the social reality of the South Song Dynasty, his wisdom, alertness, strong character and his artistic attainments in such dangerous political situation.
