Abstract

Objective:To discuss the survival and prosthetic methods of molars residual root and crown of the aged after complete treatment of pulp and root canal. Methods:101 molars residual root and crown of the aged were selected,with had no common path of insertion.They were restored with split dowel and metal crown after rootcanal treament, and followed up fof 2 to 4 years. Results:All dowels and crows were well sealed and have good retentive power except that 8 molars were fail:3 with occlusal trauma and 5 with apical periodontitis. Conlusion:The restoration of molars residual root and crown of the aged can be improved by means of split dowel crown.
