Abstract
This paper introduces the research characteristics and development of contemporary Chinese anthropology as a newly-developed discipline.It points out that some traditional research subjects of academism has gained a new result for years of studies and developed into a new field overseas.New visual anthropology has turned from cultural interpretation to application.Nowadays scholars of academism get involved in the important projects of public health and cultural preservation,from which theories may be transformed and contribution to academic and society can be made.The paper also emphasizes that the discipline-orientation,theoretical innovation and seeking opportunities for application serve as the three important foundations for the future development of Chinese anthropology.
