Research on the Alkali Corrosion Resistance Property of Low Alloy Cast Iron Containing Rare Earth

Abstract

Considering the corrosion of equipment in soda industry,a series of alloy cast iron containing rare earth was designed,their graphite morphology was observed by optical microscope,their metallolographic structure was analyzed and the matrix structure was defined by x ray diffraction instrument.The hardness of the low alloy cast iron was tested by Brinell hardness tester,the corrosion rate was tested by the method of static weight-loss and the alkali corrosion resistance performance was evaluated.The corrosion products were observed and the content of elements was analyzed by the SEM and XES,the corrosion resistance mechanism of the low alloy cast iron in the caustic lye of soda was discussed further.The results showed that rare earth alloy with proper content could increase the caustic corrosion resistance performance of low alloy cast iron,the low alloy cast iron containing rare earth of 0.06% showed better caustic corrosion resistance performance with compact corrosion products.
