Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of lidocaine for prevention of pain due to injection of propofol. Methods: 40 patients underwent general anesthesia were divided randomly into 2 groups (group A and B). In group A, normal saline 2?mL was added to propofol. In group B, 2% Lidocaine 2?mL was added to propofol. Results: The incidence of pain in group A (Placebo group) was 90%, and 15% in group B. Group B had a significantly lower incidence of pain than the group A (P0 01). Conclusion: Lidocaine decreased the incidence of pain due to injection of propofol.
