Abstract

Objective: Discuss the clinical effects of residual roots and crowns undergone root canal therapy(RCT) and crown restoration.Methods: 186 cases residual roots and crowns during 2002-2006 was chosen to undergo post-core-crown restoration after RCT.Follow up observations in 6 months to 4 years were taken,then discuss their clinical effects.Results: All of 186 offending teeth,168 successfully restored,10 had varying degrees of root loosening,4 had fistula,2 had core crowns off for secondary caries,and 2 extracted for periodontitis.Conclusion: In the strict indications,completing RCT and crown restoration allowed the residual roots and crowns to achieve satisfactory clinical effect.
