Abstract
Objectives: To study the effect, the reliability and the factors influencing the therapeutic results of artificial liver support system (plasma exchange) in the treatment of severe hepatitis. Methods: 36 patients with severe hepatitis was treated 74 times by using the plasma exchange device on the basis of medical treatments. Results:36 patients were relieved in clinical symptom and their liver functions were obviously improved after the treatment of plasma exchange. The general survival rate was 63. 9% (23/36). The general side effect rate was 24. 3% (18/74) and the patient's tolerance was good. Conclusions: Plasma exchange is an effective and safe means for thearpy of severe hepatitis. The therapy should be used in early stage.
