Abstract

Sildenafil is a selective phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor.Sildenafil produces pulmonary vasodilatation by selectively inhibiting PDE5 and increasing intracellular concentrations of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP).Sildenafil can depress pulmonary arterial hypertention.
