Abstract

Objective:To investigate the rule of inhibitory activities of bee gel, tea, syzygium aromaticum extracts their compositions on streptococcus mutans. Methods:A cross-over trial was designed to observe the effects of these three kinds of extracts and their compositions on the growth and acid production capability of streptococcus mutans. Results:The present study showed that all the extracts can inhibit streptococcus varinas, with an optimum concentration of 36 g/L and 13.5 g/L for bee gel's ethanol extract and tea's water extract, respectively.Combination of 36 g/L bee gel and 13.5 g/L tea extracts possessed the best inhibilory action against streptococcus mutans. Conclusion:Our findings suggest that bee tel, tea, and syxygium aromaticum are valuable natural drugs against decayed teeth and worth to be developed.
