Relation of c-Met,VEGF expression and microvessel density in human colorectal carcinoma

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression of c-Met,VEGF in colorectal carcinoma and their relationship with angiogenesis and the significance of clinicopathology.METHODS: Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of c-Met and VEGF and microvessel density(MVD) in 51 cases of colorectal carcinoma.RESULTS: The positive expressions of c-Met and VEGF were 72.55%(37/51),52.94%(27/51),which correlated with Dukes stage(P0.05).In colorectal carcinoma,the MVD was 37.94±7.53 when both c-Met and VEGF was positive expression.When both of them were negative expression,the MVD was 13.64±5.33.Cases with single expression were 30.67±1.45 and 23.82±7.45,respectively.There was a significant correlationship between the expression of c-Met and VEGF(rs=0.614,P0.05) in colorectal carcinoma.CONCLUSION: c-Met and VEGF play a key role in the development,invasion and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma and correlate with the tumor angiogenesis.
